USA – Jamie Foxx made people laugh in his new Netflix show What Had Happened Was. The 56-year-old actor joked that he’s “done” dating white women. He even sang about it, mentioning his ex, Katie Holmes, and said he’s “back on the Black side of town.” Foxx ended by saying it’ll feel like Black History Month all year.
Ghana – Kennedy Johnson’s journey has been extraordinary. She became a mother at 15 while living in a foster home in Detroit. Despite the hardships, she persevered. In 2021, she was honoured as “Zosimli Naa” (Friendship Queen) in Tamale, Ghana, for her work in supporting the community’s growth. Kennedy now travels the world with her daughter, sharing their story to inspire others.
Uganda – Kiryandongo refugee camp in Uganda is facing a serious mental health crisis. This year alone, 41 people have died by suicide, and 130 others have attempted to. Many refugees are dealing with past trauma and tough living conditions, but there are not enough mental health services to support them. The United Nations is appealing for more resources to address the problem.
USA – This week, the stars were shining bright. Beyoncé and Blue Ivy turned heads in gold outfits at the Mufasa movie premiere in Los Angeles. Cynthia Erivo won an award for her role in Wicked. In New York, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie promoted their Simple Life reboot. Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield and Benedict Cumberbatch attended a film festival in Saudi Arabia.
