A woman fought with police after attempting to reach President Cyril Ramaphosa and King Misuzulu kaZwelithini during the unveiling of the King Shaka statue on Thursday.
The woman, said to be a member of the Shembe church from Chatsworth, entered the high-security area looking like a VIP guest.
She tried to jump on stage while eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba was speaking.
Police had to drag her away as she resisted in front of the leaders.
“I know this lady. She is a member of the Shembe Baptist Church, and she stays in Phoenix and drives a beautiful Mercedes-Benz, but I’ve never seen her in this state,” said a witness who watched police remove her.
Police stated that they weren’t sure who she was trying to reach, as she repeatedly claimed she wanted to go to her lover.
