When 24-year-old Miracle Pogue first locked eyes with Charles, 85, in a Mississippi laundromat in 2019, it was love at first sight.
They started out as friends but couldn’t keep their paws off each other and the relationship soon became a romantic one.
Charles, who is a retired real estate agent, proposed in February 2020 and the couple tied the knot last summer.
Miracle said she only found out about her husband’s advanced age later on, when Charles told her that he was born in 1937.
“I never even placed his age, we just wanted to see how it went. I thought he was maybe 60 or 70 because he looks so good,” she said.
Miracle said her 45-year-old mother, Tamika, and her grandfather Joe Brown, 72, were supportive of the relationship from the start.
But her dad was harder to convince. She said he was like, “Hell no, ma’am, not at all.” Her grandfather, however, who’s 13 years younger than her spouse, was supportive.
“My grandad said if I was happy and that’s what I wanted to do, then he’s happy,” she explained.
Miracle told the New York Post, if her dad didn’t come to her wedding, he would have lost her forever.
“I told him I needed his support and to walk me down the aisle,” she said.
The retired real estate agent is head over heels in love with his much younger wife, saying that the wedding day was wonderful and the best day of his life.
“There’s no problem with the age difference.”
Charles said people have their own opinions and voices, especially online, so they just let them do their thing.
“We’re looking forward to starting a family together,” he said.
Miracle says they are making plans for IVF and she hopes to have two kids with Charles. She is admittedly worried that his age will stop them from having children, but she’s keeping an open mind.
Although Charles may look strong with high energy and enthusiasm, Miracle admits there are times she does worry about his health.
But for now, the couple is making the most of every day.
