What is Christmas without family?

Everyone understands what holidays mean to them and they understand what Christmas brings to their families, colleagues, friends and in their relationships.

But what is painful is that when some of us think of Christmas we are reminded of the pain of losing a family member, a loved one or someone who is a glue for the family.

I ask myself the same questions every day: who will bring them laughter, joy, memories, love, comfort, happiness?

One thing I know is that those who have lost loved ones will always cherish the moments they spent with them while they were still walking the greener pastures of this world.

This Christmas I will be with my family on my mother’s side. I can’t wait to see the laughter of my uncle One Tooth tell us how mischievous they were with my mom when they were growing up.

We have Christmas once a year but why do we wait this long to see our long-distance family members? One thing that I learned from the pandemic is that life can flush away in a minute. I want to make sure I cherish every moment I spend with my family – not just on Christmas.

Big up to those who have never lost the spirit of Christmas, despite their losses and hardships. The ones who still get excited when they open that box of assorted chocolates, get new clothes, and cook delicious meals.
