The World Health Organisation says coronavirus death rates in many African countries do not seem to be increasing as fast as other parts of the world.
In Africa, there’ve been 103,933 reported cases, and 3193 deaths. This mortality rate is lower than for example Europe, which had almost 5000 deaths from 100,000 cases.
One reason could be younger populations, as the disease usually targets the old.
But a lack of testing in many countries makes it hard to draw firm conclusions yet.
South Africa has tested by far the most – more than 500,000.
