- Agreement Kubayi could not find work, so she learned beauty skills and opened her own training school in Diepkloof, Soweto.
- She charges affordable prices to teach women how to do makeup and wigs so they can earn their own money.
Agreement Kubayi spent months looking for a job after qualifying as an information technology (IT) technician.
When she could not find work, she enrolled at a beauty school in Soweto so she could make a living.
The 31-year-old finished her course in 2024 and opened her own business, God’s Vine Training.
Kubayi now runs her beauty school from her garage in Diepkloof, Soweto. She also travels to Tzaneen in Limpopo to teach classes.
She mostly trains unemployed women. She teaches them how to do makeup, manicures and pedicures, and how to put in wigs and eyelashes.
Kubayi said starting her business turned out to be a blessing.
“I have fallen in love with what I’m doing and I believe this is my God given calling, to help other women make something of themselves,” she said.
She runs a five-day training course for R1,500. This is much cheaper than other beauty schools, which she said charge R3,000 a day just for makeup lessons.
“I told myself, I can’t charge people who are struggling to put food on the table such prices,” she said.
Kubayi said she has found her purpose and will never go back to looking for a corporate job.
She said it brings her joy to see her business change the lives of the women she trains.
“I have countless clients who are now bread winners after attending the training,” she said.
She wants other young people to use their talents to make money instead of waiting for the government to give them jobs.
“Food, clothing and fuel is expensive these days,” she said.
