Tyla’s latest music video for her song “Jump” has achieved a phenomenal six million views on YouTube just nine days after its release.
Tyla released her self-titled debut album on 22 March, shortly after winning the Best African Music Performance – an all-new category – at the 2024 Grammys for her breakout hit “Water”.
Working with American rapper Gunna, who flew to South Africa for the video, Tyla and her team released a classic song and video combination featuring the singer and her posse dancing in a variety of gritty urban Jozi settings.
Tyla recently attended the Met Gala, wearing an eye-popping, sand-filled dress that looked like an hourglass.
Vanity Fair reported that Tyla had to be carried up the steps of the Met to protect the integrity of the fragile dress. Asked whether she could sit down during the event, she cheerfully proclaimed, “Who cares, guys? I’m cute!”
