- Comedian Tol Ass Mo claimed traditional healer Gogo Skhotheni’s practices led to her baby’s death.
- Skhotheni and her husband rejected his apology, saying his comments were cruel and disrespectful.
Comedian Tol Ass Mo has angered many people after suggesting that traditional healer Gogo Skhotheni’s practices led to her baby’s death.
Speaking on Podcast and Chill with MacG, Mo claimed Skhotheni’s work as a traditional healer might have caused her son, Monde Junior’s, death in September 2024.
Skhotheni refused to accept his apology. “I am sick and tired of people speaking badly about my late son and then apologising. You knew exactly what you said and what you meant. If you were truly sorry, you should have apologised right after the interview or the next day. Niyijwayele lento yenu (you always do this),” she said.
Her husband, Monde Shange, blasted Mo for his cruel words.
“There are lines that should never be crossed, and one of them is speaking about the loss of someone’s child with disrespect and ignorance,” Shange said.
“The comment you made about my wife and my son’s passing is beyond hurtful – it’s reckless and inhumane. My wife has been carrying unimaginable pain every day since Monde Junior left us. To suggest that her work as a traditional healer had anything to do with his passing is not only false but deeply offensive.”
Mo tried to apologise on social media: “I want to take a moment to sincerely apologise for my words. In the heat of the moment, I spoke without truly understanding the depth of pain that comes with losing a child.
“I realise now how insensitive my words may have been, and I deeply regret any hurt I may have caused.”
But he then kept defending himself, saying he was just warning pregnant women about using muti.
He sent Skhotheni a private WhatsApp message, but she was still too hurt to forgive him.
