Lucky Sithole
South Africa 14 (7) – Argentina 19 (7)
For the second time in four days, South African rugby fans had to suffer the horrible sight of their team falling apart.
As on Saturday when the B&I Lions destroyed the Springboks, the Blitzbokke started as expected. Selvyn Davids scored a beautifully worked try. Clearly everything was going according to plan.
But then Gaston Revol was served the dreaded red card – that curse of rugby that is threatening to destroy the game in all its formats.
But this time, the card worked the other way.
Argentina, with only six players, was galvanized into the most remarkable game of sevens you will ever see. Instead of accepting the inevitable the Argentinians scored two tries in quick succession. And suddenly the Blitzbokke were (excuse the pun) at sixes and sevens.
Rubbing salt in the wounds Argentina scored a third try.
The Blitzobokke on the other hand, frowned, fumbled, and found themselves without a game plan or a player to lead them to success.
A great win for Argentina, a disgrace for the Blitzbokke.
