Super Sunday in the Premier League instantly delivered the goods once Manchester United versus Tottenham Hotspur got underway.
For the 25th time in the 32 Premier League meetings between the sides at Old Trafford, the Red Devils scored first.
Rasmus Højlund’s return to the starting line-up took just three minutes to reap rewards, as the striker got his second league goal of the campaign.
The control then shifted to Spurs, with Richarlison finding the net for the equaliser after a classy ball in from Pedro Porro.
United would go back in front though, this time with Marcus Rashford scoring at home for the very first time in all competitions this season.
It could have been 2-2 before the break had Christian Romero not struck the woodwork with a powerful header in first half stoppage time.
Seconds into the second half, the goal would come, though. And it was debutant Timo Werner with the assist as Rodrigo Bentancur levelled matters once more.
A winner was not written in the script for either of the sides, with Spurs perhaps feeling the more hard done by having dominated both the possession and attempts sections of the statistics list.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have now come out of their two games against United with four points. Leaving them in fifth place on the table, eight points clear of Erik Ten Hag’s men.
In Sunday’s earlier action, Everton and Aston Villa played out a goalless draw on Merseyside.
The result stopped Villa from going level on points with leaders Liverpool and instead sees them in third spot behind Manchester City on goal difference.
