A brutal shooting at an illegal shebeen in Saulsville, Pretoria, has left 11 people dead, including three children and 14 others fighting for their lives in hospital.
The South African Police Service has launched a manhunt for three unknown suspects behind the mass killing, which took place inside a hostel.
Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the national police spokesperson, confirmed that 25 people were shot in total.
“Eleven are confirmed dead. Fourteen others survived and have been taken to hospital,” she said.
Three of the people who died were minors, a three-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.
The rest of the dead were adults.
It is not yet clear what led to the deadly shooting.

The illegal shebeen was operating inside the hostel when the gunmen struck.
District Commissioner Major General Thine was on the scene shortly after the incident.
Police have not yet arrested anyone and are calling on anyone with information to come forward.
Brigadier Mathe said detectives and forensic teams are working around the clock to track down those responsible.
She said officers are also working closely with the community to understand what happened and why.
