Scrolla Africa selects the 11 players that most impressed us at the Fifa World Cup showpiece in Qatar.
Goalkeeper — Dominik Livakovic (Croatia)
Between the sticks we opted for the Croatian number one. Livakovic kept two clean sheets and helped his country to two penalty shootout victories — including the unforgettable quarter-final win over Brazil.
Right back — Achraf Hakimi (Morocco)
The PSG full back was the star of the Moroccan masterclass in Qatar, leaving behind some emotional memories to go with his performances on the pitch.
Centre back — Josko Gvardiol (Croatia)
The masked man in Qatar is just 20 years of age and will undoubtedly be one to keep an eye on. A goal against Morocco in the penultimate game will be a deserved prize for him after standing tall to help Croatia to a third place finish.
Centre back — Harry Maguire (England)
Three clean sheets in five matches followed a disastrous season in club colours at Manchester United for Maguire. The England centre back proved his leadership qualities and showed true class under the most immense pressure.
Left back — Marcos Acuna (Argentina)
Acuna came forward and tracked back in equal measure to make him one of the stand-out performers in taking Argentina to victory.
Central midfield — Enzo Fernandez (Argentina)
The young player of the tournament has already had price tags placed on him as Europe’s elite look to battle it out for his signature. Fernandez did not miss even a minute of the tournament’s knockout stages.
Central midfield — Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco)
The African dream was held together in midfield by the Fiorentina man. His calmness in possession and lack of fear in making a challenge meant that Morocco could make history in Qatar.
Central midfield — Jude Bellingham (England)
The 19-year-old was arguably the teenage sensation who made the most heads turn at the World Cup this year. The Borussia Dortmund man was a treat to watch each time England took to the field.
Right wing — Lionel Messi (Argentina)
What more is there to be said? Messi would be the captain of our ultimate team after magically winning his first World Cup for Argentina.
Centre forward — Richarlison (Brazil)
The Tottenham Hotspur man scored a bicycle kick against Serbia and two more goals in the tournament as he oozed class and made the Brazil number nine shirt his own.
Left wing — Kylian Mbappe (France)
A hat-trick in the final followed five tournament goals, as the 23-year-old gave it his all to win the golden boot and claim a silver medal in Qatar.
