Home of Nhlanhla Lux bombed

Former Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux was working with local law enforcement to contain the violence in the various townships – but then the violence came knocking at his door.

As anarchy erupted in Soweto during the national shutdown with protesters on the streets in Zondi, Zola, eMndeni and various other places in the townships, Lux was working hard to keep the streets safe throughout the night of Sunday evening.

He was patrolling the streets of Soweto to contain the chaos, making sure the innocent were not harmed. He was posting videos of his operation every hour throughout the night advising people to stay off the streets and to be vigilant as the unrest ensued.

But then he too, became a target.

He reported that his Soweto home was petrol bombed in the early hours on Monday morning, with at least eight of his family members still inside the house, while he was on the streets trying to maintain the peace.

Multiple explosions were reported, strong enough to blow his neighbours’ windows open.

“The reason why my house attacked was because the EFF people can’t take defeat, they want to shut down the country, some of us want to defend the country and defend our communities,” Lux said.
