The deputy principal who was allegedly found naked with a female grade 12 learner on Monday has resigned.
The Department of Education in Limpopo said the 52-year-old teacher from Kgagatlou Secondary School tendered his resignation letter on Wednesday, effective immediately.
Spokesperson for the department Mike Maringa said the senior teacher’s resignation came as the department placed him on a precautionary leave pending investigation of his relationship with the learner.
A video clip of the teacher being paraded by a mob after they assaulted him went viral on social media on Monday. He was allegedly caught having sex with the 18-year-old learner at his rented place in Ga-Mphahlele.
The deputy principal Samuel Nchabeleng told Sowetan this was not the first time he was accused of having a sexual relationship with a learner.
He said there was a complaint lodged against him at his previous school where he was a principal. He was accused of sexually assaulting two female learners.
“Another claim was lodged in September at this school but none of these accusations against me are true,” he said.
The teenager’s uncle told Scrolla.Africa they were happy he will never get to teach again.
“We send our kids to school and he sees them as women to sleep with. He must never get to teach ever again,” the teenager’s uncle said.
