A deputy principal was assaulted and paraded around the village after he was allegedly caught having sex with a grade 12 learner at his house.
The 18-year-old learner from Ga-Mphahlele in Limpopo had been missing from the grade 12 camp at the school for three days.
The learner’s uncle told Scrolla.Africa they received a call from the school to come and collect their daughter’s belongings at the camp as she had disappeared.
The uncle said they went around the village enquiring with the teenager’s friends about her whereabouts only to find that she was at the home of the deputy principal of Kgagatlou Secondary School.
The teenager’s family and some community members went to the 52-year-old teacher’s house on Monday and found him in bed with the teenager.
Out of anger the senior teacher was forced out of his bedroom naked and assaulted before being paraded around the village, and dragged to the school while being filmed.
The video of him was shared on social media.
“We were shocked that a man who’s supposed to care about our child’s future is the one who encourages her to skip lessons when he knows it’s important for her to be at the camp,” the uncle said.
“We took our child to school and he saw a woman that he can keep at his place while others learn. He is a shameless old man. All we need now is for him to face consequences.”
The uncle said the teacher was lucky because his niece was not a minor, otherwise he would be behind bars for statutory rape.
Scrolla.Africa has seen WhatsApp text messages between the teacher and the matriculant where he asks her to cook for him before she goes to write her exams.
When contacted for comment, the teacher said he was being framed and that the girl was only at his house to receive extra lessons. When asked why he was found naked the teacher referred Scrolla.Africa to the Department of Education for further comment.
Spokesperson for the Limpopo Department of Education Mike Maringa said the department was aware of the educator being assaulted after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a learner where he works.
“We are taking this allegation seriously and currently following the matter to establish facts,” Maringa said.
SAPS provincial spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said no case has been registered regarding the incident.
