Suspected AKA killers still in Eswatini

The attempt to bring two suspects back to South Africa, who were involved in the tragic deaths of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane has been delayed.

AKA and Tibz were shot and killed by gunmen on 10 February 2023 while hugging outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.

The police announced plans last week to get brothers Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande from Eswatini to face trial but their lawyer, Sivesonke Ngwenya, has said they haven’t seen any official paperwork yet.

They are part of a larger group of seven people arrested since last April.

Ngwenya said they expected to get detailed handover documents by last Friday, 1 March, but nothing came through.

The pair are due to appear in an Eswatini court on Tuesday 5 March.

“We went to court on Monday, that was the first court date. From there, we received the provisional document and we were still hoping and anticipating that we’ll be served with the comprehensive one,” Ngwenya said, Fakaza reported.

“So currently, I think it’s possible that we might have a postponement on Tuesday because we don’t want to find ourselves doing what is not appropriate due to local instructions.”

Besides facing murder charges, the two brothers are also accused of other serious crimes.

Filed court documents reveal that they were found hiding in a leased apartment in Mbabane.

The remaining five suspects are due back in court on Wednesday.
