Students have officially made it through the first day of the 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams, and according to most, they started on a good note!
Around 923,460 learners, both part-time and full-time, who enrolled for the NSC this year wrote English Paper 1 on Monday.
Learners from different schools around the country shared their experience with Scrolla.Africa.
Phandulwazi High School learner Iviwe Nqanqali, 17, in Cape Town said she was well prepared for the paper, and walked out the exam hall feeling confident.
“I know I did well. There were no surprises because our teachers prepared us, and all the questions were based on what they taught us during the course of the year.”
*Another learner from the same school, Zandile Ndenjenje, 20, said it is all up to them to make their teachers proud.
“No one will fail today’s paper; it was fair and understandable. I will continue studying so I can also do well in other papers.”
*Sibonelokuhle Tlou, 17, from Dr Johan Jurgens High School in Springs, Gauteng said the paper was long and required one to apply themselves adequately.
“I panicked in the morning because I didn’t know what to expect, but once I went through the paper, I calmed myself down and tackled the questions head-on. This paper has paved the tone for other papers I still have to go through.”
*Tshepang Muvhenzhe,19, from Flora Park Comprehensive High in Polokwane, said the English paper was a good start as it was easy and understandable. “The paper has clearly paved the way for the upcoming papers. I am positive I will do well with the rest.”
*Thabang Moraba, a grade 12 student from Witbank High School in Mpumalanga, said: “I am happy to be writing my first English paper which took two hours. I wrote well because I was ready. I had such a simple time writing the paper.”
*Another grade 12 pupil, Gloria Mahalanyane, said: “Today’s paper was good even though I couldn’t make it to my last few questions due to time. I had studied for my exam, so I was just a little anxious.”
