- Ekurhuleni Metro police arrest three men at a house full of stolen medication and solar batteries.
- Police link the suspects to truck hijackings and robberies reported since November last year.
Three suspects were arrested in Norkem Park after police found a stash of powerful medication and solar batteries worth thousands of rands.
Ekurhuleni Metro police were tipped off and went to a house in Du Plessis Street, where they found drugs and cash. Then a silver Mazda BT 50 and white Toyota Hilux arrived — loaded with lithium batteries.
The men inside were caught red-handed.
Spokesperson Thabiso Makgato said the three men, aged between 37 and 51, were arrested at the scene.
She said police discovered Ketamine, Pethidine and Morphine — all strong narcotic painkillers — along with cash. The drugs are listed as scheduled medication, meaning they require a prescription and are strictly controlled.
It’s believed the men were part of a syndicate distributing stolen medicines and batteries in nearby areas.

Makgato said police had been following up on information linked to business robberies and truck hijackings reported since last November. One of the cases also includes attempted murder.
A warehouse manager from Fresenius Kabi, a healthcare company, arrived on the scene and confirmed the drugs were stolen from them.
A Solarwize manager also identified the lithium batteries as theirs. Both companies said the products had gone missing during criminal incidents.
The bust was a joint effort by the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Northern Region Task Team and several private security companies, including Lapua Special Operations, ZSS Security and FADT.
The Ekurhuleni Chief of police praised the investigating officers for their hard work in cracking the case.
