Stevie, 8, pumped winning team with ‘Ireland’s Call’

By Lucky Vince Pienaar

Stevie Mulrooney is only eight — and small for his age — but he sang “Ireland’s Call” with as much passion as ever heard at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Even Ireland coach Andy Farrell couldn’t help smiling when the boy sang, “Ireland, Ireland, together standing tall,” with his huge voice in perfect pitch.

There is no conclusive evidence that his rendition of the Irish battle cry contributed to Ireland’s 36-0 win over Italy — but it no doubt played a part in spurring the team to do their best.
