Springboks ruthless in Cardiff

By Razeen Gutta

In a tour-de-force performance, the Springboks demolished Wales 73-0 on Saturday, scoring 11 tries and etching their names into the history books.

Missing over a dozen key players, South Africa were clinical and ruthless, leaving Wales with their heaviest home defeat ever.

A late red card for Eben Etzebeth — for a finger-in-eye clash in the 77th minute — dampened the celebration, likely costing him several matches in the Champions Cup.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu was outstanding, scoring two tries and contributing nine conversions for a 28-point haul.

Andre Esterhuizen was unstoppable, wrecking Wales with 100 metres of carries and three turnovers.

The Springbok scrum dominated and their attack was relentless. Tries from Gerhard Steenekamp, Ethan Hooker, Jasper Wiese and more exposed the hosts’ lack of firepower and ensured they never stood a chance.

A dominant end to the World Rugby season for South Africa provided a clear reminder of their status as the world’s top team.
