- Sonia Booth says marriage is hard work, and stay-at-home wives deserve payment and legal protection.
- Her views have divided social media, with some calling her brave and others blaming her for her own failed marriage.
Sonia Pule-Booth has called for stay-at-home wives to be paid for their work and says couples should sign contracts before tying the knot.
The former model and businesswoman said in a recent interview on the show Engineer Your Life that being a wife is like having a full-time job, and the work many women do at home often goes unnoticed and unpaid.
She also advised couples to get legal help and sign contracts before marriage to protect themselves emotionally and financially.
Sonia’s comments come two years after her messy breakup with former soccer star Matthew Booth. She accused him of cheating in 2022, and their divorce was finalised in 2024 after a long legal battle.
Speaking about the experience, Sonia said: “It drained me emotionally, physically and financially.”
Now, she wants women to know their value and make sure they are treated fairly in relationships.
But her views have sparked a storm on social media. Some praised her for being honest and brave. Others blamed her for the failed marriage and said love, not money or contracts, should be the focus.
