‘Skomota’s manager is stealing his money’

By Rorisang Modiba

Thabang Sefala, better known as “Skomota”, became a social media sensation with his unique dance moves, leading to the widespread “Skomota dance challenge” on platforms like TikTok.

His manager, Moruti wa Dikota is allegedly taking advantage of the 21-year-old performer. Despite earning millions in recent months, the popular figure is living in poverty.

During a recent Lipo podcast episode, Skomota’s friend and tour manager, Skhothane sa Pitiro, criticised manager Moruti wa Dikota.

Skhothane said that Skomota doesn’t have a bank account and Moruti wa Dikota collects all the earnings, Fakaza reported.

This disclosure has shocked many on social media, given that Skomota’s appearance fee is around R90,000.

“I know Kholo took Skomota and helped him to become who he is today, however, he is supposed to prioritise important things first before buying expensive designer clothes, shoes and belts. It won’t help Skomota with anything in the future. He must not be greedy.”

Rumours suggest that Skomota was earning about R545,000 a month in 2023, raising the obvious question: Where is all this money going?
