The Premier League returned this weekend for the first time since the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Here are the top talking points from the weekend’s action.

  • Jack Grealish arrives and Haaland only scores one

Manchester City beat Wolves 3-0 in Saturday’s lunchtime kick off, with Jack Grealish finally coming to the party.

The England international bagged a goal inside one minute at Molineux, while Erling Haaland continues to dominate in front of goal. The Norwegian scored again to take his tally up to 11 league goals in eight games.

  • Son gives Leicester a Rodgering

Antonio Conte’s side put six past Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City in North London, with the Northern Irishman’s role now said to be in serious jeopardy.

The Foxes have just one point in seven games and sit bottom of the pile.

Harry Kane continued his excellent record against Leicester; and goals from Youri Tielemans, Eric Dier, Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison all occured before a certain Korean stole the show off the bench.

Last season’s golden boot winner Heung Min Son needed just 13 minutes to get off the mark for the season, with a magnificent hat-trick as Spurs came out 6-2 victors.

  • Arsenal are back on top… did someone say title challengers?

The Gunners won 3-0 away at Brentford on Sunday to go back to the summit of the Premier League table.

Goals from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira sealed the contest, but it was a young teenager that made all the headlines.

Mikel Arteta gave a Premier League debut to 15-year-old Nigerian prospect, Ethan Nwaneri. His substitution in second half stoppage time made him the youngest-ever player to debut in the competition.

  • Postponements pile up

With three fixtures postponed this weekend, it means that mouthwatering clashes between Chelsea and Liverpool as well as Leeds and Manchester United will have to wait.

Fans had to look overseas for their footy fixes as the games were put off as a result of security concerns ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday. It is likely that all the postponed matches will only be played in the second half of the season following the Fifa World Cup at year-end.

On the plus side, that appears to be it in terms of postponements– back to normal service next week.
