Shandre Campbell’s parents are confident that their son will not disappoint them and reward their hard work and sacrifices to groom him into a talented footballer.

After leaving SuperSport United, the 18-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Uefa Champions League team and will start training with their youth side under head coach Nicky Hayen.

Campbell’s father, Rishaan, told SuperSport TV: “Shandre, I have never doubted you.”

He remembered the hard work and sacrifices he and his wife, Clarissa, made for Shandre’s training.

“You have never said no. Go with that mindset to that part of the world. The world is at your feet, my son. You have never disappointed us.”

Like her husband, Clarissa Campbell is confident of her son’s future.

“We know he is going to make it,” she said. “We will fully support him as a family. He just needs to stay positive and humble and do what he does best. We sacrificed a lot, and it has paid off now.”

Starting with SuperSport’s development sides at age 11, Campbell made his PSL debut last season.

South African football fans have praised his move to the reigning Belgian champions at such an early age.
