Amakhosi have finally shared details about one of their pre-season friendly matches in Turkey.

The team left for Istanbul on 4 July for a three-week training camp to prepare for the 2024-25 season.

The schedule has been kept secret, but they released a statement about an upcoming match.

“With the team continuing with their pre-season camp and preparations in Turkey, Amakhosi will play their third practice/friendly match against Qatar’s Al Shahaniya SC in Istanbul on Saturday, 20 July,” the Soweto giants said.

Al Shahaniya recently gained promotion to the Qatar Stars League.

Unlike their rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who have been open about their pre-season matches, Kaizer Chiefs have been more careful, not even allowing live broadcasts of their games.

This overseas camp is their first since 2003, when they went to South Korea.

The camp in Turkey has had its challenges, with defenders Edmilson Dove and Bongani Sam sent home due to serious injuries.

Goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, signed from TS Galaxy, couldn’t join his new teammates because of visa issues and will start training with the team once they return to South Africa.

Dillan Solomons, Tebogo Potsane, George Matlou, and Mduduzi Mdantsane are also missing the camp due to fitness issues from last season.
