  • Caf bans Cameroon football president Samuel Eto’o for four matches and fines him twenty thousand dollars after an Afcon incident.
  • Cameroon football body says the punishment is unfair and plans to appeal the decision.

Cameroon football boss Samuel Eto’o has been banned for four matches and fined twenty thousand dollars by the Confederation of African Football.

The punishment follows a heated incident during Cameroon’s 2-0 loss to Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Eto’o is the president of the Cameroon Football Federation.

Caf says Eto’o made an angry gesture while protesting refereeing decisions during the match.

The incident happened in front of Caf president Patrice Motsepe.

On Sunday, Caf confirmed it is investigating several violent incidents that took place during Afcon matches. It also confirmed disciplinary action against Eto’o.

The Cameroon Football Federation has rejected the decision. In a statement, the federation said the punishment lacks clear reasons and questioned whether proper process was followed.

“Fecafoot reaffirms its support for its president,” the organisation said. The federation said it plans to appeal the ban and fine.

The Afcon final will be played on Sunday, with hosts Morocco set to face Senegal.
