The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has raised concerns over the image of South African football following a recent raid by the Hawks at the headquarters of Safa.

The raid, which took place on 8 March at Safa House in Nasrec, Johannesburg, was related to allegations of theft and fraud to the amount of R1.3-million.

The focus of the investigation is on the activities between 2014 and 2018, involving Safa’s president, Danny Jordaan. He is accused of misusing Safa funds for personal expenses, including hiring a private security firm and a public relations company without the board’s approval.

In response, Safa has denied any potential mismanagement.

CAF, emphasising the importance of maintaining the sport’s clean reputation in South Africa, said it is monitoring the situation closely.

The organisation has requested Safa to submit a report confirming that neither the organisation nor Jordaan has violated any regulations.
