The Betway SA20 is delivering on its promise of excitement and unpredictability, with all six teams still in contention for a playoff place more than halfway into the season.
It was a weekend of crucial away victories as Pretoria Capitals, MI Cape Town and Durban Super Giants all kept their hopes of a top four finish alive.
The Sunrises Eastern Cape continue to lead the pack, however they failed to extend their gap at the summit after a two-wicket defeat to Durban in Gqeberha on Sunday.
Two points off them in second are the Joburg Super Kings, who succumbed to a 36-run defeat to MI Cape Town at the Wanderers on Saturday.
Faf du Plessis’ troops failed to chase down the mammoth 235-run target which came as a result of a remarkable 113 off 60 balls from Ryan Rickelton.
The win got MI into double figures in the points column at the bottom of the pack; and leaves them four points off Durban and five off the top four.
Paarl hosted Saturday’s early game, with the Pretoria Capitals coming out on top against the Royals.
Sherfane Rutherford’s 42 off 35 helped the visitors to 138/9 in their 20 overs — a target that was 21 too many for the hosts after some good bowling from Keshav Maharaj and company.
That result leaves Pretoria and Paarl level on points in third and fourth place respectively.
On Monday, the Capitals host Cape Town before Durban travel to Paarl on Tuesday and the Sunrisers take on Joburg on Wednesday.
All the action from the SA20 is broadcast live on SuperSport.
