Royal AM have claimed top spot in the GladAfrica Championship after Richards Bay suffered a 2-1 defeat against JDR Stars.
Sazi Ngubane and his Royal AM side will feel confident now that they can secure automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.
With just two games to play, the Durban outfit have opened up a two-point lead over city rivals Richards Bay.
Royal AM claimed a massive victory over TS Sporting, who were only one point behind Mogale’s side before the game.
All Royal AM need to do now is win both their final games – against the University of Pretoria and Cape Town All Stars. If they achieve this, they will find themselves playing in the DStv Premiership next season.
Richards Bay come up against Jomo Cosmos and Steenberg United at the close of their season. Simo Dladla and his Richards Bay side will need Royal AM to drop points in one of their final two fixtures if they have any chance of achieving automatic promotion.
In what has been a closely contested league, sixth-placed Free State Stars could still win the league title as they find themselves only six points behind first placed Royal AM. The promotion play-off places, as well as the league title, will certainly go down to the wire as the season draws to a close.
