Regal Reds hit Blues for four

Anfield erupted as a star was born in Conor Bradley while legendary manager Jurgen Klopp’s farewell countdown continued with another victory.

Wins for Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the early games preceded another dominant home display from Liverpool over Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.

The Citizens beat Burnley 3-1 at the Etihad courtesy of a Julian Alvarez brace while Spurs came back from behind to defeat Brentford 3-2 in North London.

On Merseyside, however, the Reds asserted full control with incessant pressure from start to finish over an inconsistent Chelsea side.

Diogo Jota broke the deadlock midway through the first period after an assist from full back Conor Bradley.

The 20-year-old starlet made his name in front of the Kop with a goal of his own before the break, as he deputised for Trent Alexander Arnold in style.

Bradley grabbed another assist shortly after the hour mark as Dominik Szoboszlai made it 3-0 to Klopp’s side.

Darwin Nunez was a live wire up front for Liverpool, too, doing literally everything apart from finding the back of the net.

The Uruguayan missed a spot-kick in the first half but made up late on with an assist for Luis Diaz.

Christopher Nkunku came on for the Blues and grabbed a consolation in their finest phase of the game.

Pochettino will know that some stability will be required if his team are to see a change in fortunes, though. Particularly when they face the Reds again in three weeks time at Wembley with the Carabao Cup on the line.

The Premier League action continues on the weekend with Chelsea hosting Wolves on Sunday before Liverpool visit Arsenal in the pick of the fixtures.
