A Soweto businessman who was once married to a Real Housewives of Durban star is now selling his furniture on Facebook after losing almost everything.
Kgolo “Da Guru” Mthembu, the ex-husband of Annie Ludick-Mthembu, has hit hard times after their marriage ended. He lost his businesses, home, car, and regular income.
Now living back in Soweto after leaving Durban, he’s selling his furniture, carpets, and appliances on Facebook Marketplace.
“Storage is expensive, and he doesn’t need the items anymore as he moved back home to Soweto. He is downgrading briefly until he gets life back in order again. It happens,” a friend told ZiMoja.
Earlier this year, Mthembu had to sell his nightclub, Viewz Urban Grill and Rooftop, to Bongani “DJ Bongz” Dlamini after workers went unpaid.
“We went months without getting paid,” said a former staff member. “At first, we understood that money was stolen from the club. We tried to make it work, but we still needed money for transport and food, and it was costing us. So we looked for other jobs.”
Despite his troubles, some still stand by him. “It’s a shame. He was a good guy, but people took advantage,” the former employee added.
Mthembu is now trying to rebuild his life from scratch in Soweto.
