Shoprite is offering a R50,000 reward for information on the thieves who tunnelled into a Jo’burg liquor store to steal R300,000 worth of liquor.
When the manager of Shoprite LiquorShop at Jo’burg’s Newtown Junction Mall went in to open up for Monday, she discovered a hole in the floor and R300,000 worth of stock missing.
The thieves stole whisky, beer, vodka, brandy and gin worth far more than their retail price during lockdown.
Three suspects were first filmed on CCTV cameras on 21 May. According to News24 they used electrical and stormwater tunnels below the building, then dug through the solid concrete floor to get in.
