  • The Zulu King’s R5-million Range Rover is being repaired after a crash with a municipal car.
  • The King is now using a Mercedes Benz while waiting for the government to fix the Range Rover.

The Zulu King’s expensive Range Rover that was damaged in a crash last month still hasn’t been fixed.

King Misuzulu KaZwelithini was unhurt when his R5-million Range Rover hit a VW Polo Vivo belonging to Abaqulusi Local Municipality.

The crash happened while he was on his way to Vryheid to prepare for the opening of the Princess Mkabayi Regional Mall.

The King is now using a Mercedes Benz GLE 300d instead of his damaged British luxury car.

His spokesperson Prince Simphiwe Zulu of kwaZiphethe told Scrolla.Africa: “Why are you asking about King’s vehicle? Look, we doubt if that vehicle has already been fixed because government processes take time. At the moment His Majesty is using the Mercedes Benz.”

Traditional Prime Minister Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi told the Nation that the King wasn’t hurt as it was just a small accident.

The KZN government, which bought the Range Rover for R5-million in 2023 under then premier Nomusa maDube-Ncube, couldn’t be reached to comment on the car’s repairs.

When they gave the King the car last year, it was seen as a peace offering between the government and the King.
