Push Push pushes the boundaries

A South African female rapper is breaking boundaries with her electro like voice and her hard rock lyrics.

Born in Port Elizabeth, the blonde rapper Push Push is growing an international fan base and paving the way for more South Africans who, like her, dare to try their luck at the centre of it all in the United States city of Los Angeles.

Push Push, who is also known as Nicci St Bruce, released her first solo EP titled ‘No Gods’ in October 2020, three years after her raps were featured on Comedy Central’s TV show, Broad City, alongside Durban’s Okmalumkoolkat and Cape Town musician and producer Thor Rixon.

Push Push once said she wouldn’t make a project until someone is ready to pay her for it, but it seems she has changed heart after her collaboration with rap-metal band Methods of Mayhem founder Tommy Lee in a song titled ‘Tops’.

There is a fearlessness and wit to her cartoon music videos that tracks her own fearlessness as a stripper, a law student and blogger.

That was before she ventured out into music with her husband Moon Bounce, who helped produce most of her songs – Including the No Gods EP.
