Afghanistan shocked the mighty Australia on Saturday, setting-up another must win-game in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Monday’s cricketing action could not be more finely balanced with South Africa, West Indies and Australia now requiring a win to progress to the last four.
Gulbadin Naib was the star of Saturday as Afghanistan defeated the men in yellow for the very time.
They successfully defended a score of just 148 with some phenomenal bowling by Naib (4/20) and Naveen ul Haq (3/20).
Group one in the super eights is perfectly poised now with Australia needing a win over unbeaten India in St Lucia on Monday if they are to be guaranteed of a semi-final place.
India could still qualify should Australia lose, depending on whether or not Afghanistan can beat Bangladesh by a high enough run rate.
Should India and Afghanistan both win, however, the Australians will crash out of the competition.
In the early hours of Monday morning, South Africa will face the tough test of the West Indies on Caribbean soil.
The Proteas must beat the hosts if they are to qualify alongside England from group two.
England’s ten wicket win over USA on Sunday sent them to the top of the pile, making Monday morning’s encounter a virtual quarter final clash.
