- Keshav Maharaj won player of the match, while Senuran Muthusamy’s all-round heroics earned him the player of the series award.
South Africa ended their tour of Pakistan on a high, crushing the hosts by eight wickets in the second test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The victory levelled the two-match series and gave the Proteas their first test win on Pakistani soil since 2007.
Spinner Simon Harmer led the charge, taking 6/50 as Pakistan collapsed for just 138 in their second innings.
Chasing a modest 68 to win, Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton kept their composure, guiding South Africa home in just 12.3 overs. Markram top-scored with 42 off 45 balls.
Keshav Maharaj was named player of the match after taking nine wickets across both innings, while Senuran Muthusamy was recognised as player of the series for his consistent all-round performances. His unbeaten 89 in the second innings played a key role in setting up the win.
After the match, Markram praised his teammates for stepping up under pressure.
“We were put under pressure again in this test and the guys stood up for the team,” he said. “It’s a great space for us to be in as a team. We’re still a work in progress, but performances like this give us belief going forward.”
The win not only secured a share of the series but also boosted South Africa’s confidence ahead of their next challenge.
