Prince wants Zulu PM removedĀ

King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s uncle, Prince Mbonisi kaBhekuzulu of eKhwezi, wants the Pietermaritzburg High Court to remove the Monarchā€™s newly appointed traditional prime minister.

On Friday, the court heard that Prince Mbonisi also wants it to stop King Misuzulu from appointing members to the Ingonyama Trust Board and running it.

The case began in November.

In court papers, Prince Mbonisi claims that King Misuzulu has no right to appoint the board of the Ingonyama Trust because his kingship is being challenged by other contenders for the Zulu throne.

He also said that King Misuzulu could not run the Ingonyama Trust because of his behaviour. He claimed that the King had misused the trust’s funds on hotels and alcohol.

King Misuzulu has already appointed the board of the Ingonyama Trust and assumed the position of chairperson. He officially convened its first meeting last month in Pietermaritzburg at the trust’s offices.

The King appointed his traditional prime minister, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi after Prince Mbonisi filed the court case.

Buthelezi was appointed in January at the commemoration of the battle of Isandlwana in Nquthu, KwaZulu-Natal.

Prince Mbonisi said he can’t comment on the court case because his legal team handles it.
