The son of the late traditional prime minister to the Zulu Monarch and the nation has applauded the decision by the Ulundi local municipality to name its state of the art community hall after the reigning Prince Ntuthukoyezwe Buthelezi in kwaCeza village, northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Ulundi mayor Wilson Ntshangase said that the decision was taken after they consulted with the Buthelezi traditional authorities to give them the name.
He said another aim was to keep the history of the Buthelezi clan alive for generations to come.
“As the local municipality our aim is to keep the history of the Buthelezi clan alive and to make sure that our kids know their traditional leaders and their role in communities,” said Ntshangase.
Prince Ntuthukoyezwe Buthelezi, who has just ascended to the throne of the Buthelezi clan, says the gesture by the local municipality of Ulundi has made them proud as the clan.
Buthelezi is now an Inkosi of his father’s clan after he took over the reign from his late father in December.
His appointment was described as a smooth transition that happened without family objections and in-fighting as was the case in the Zulu royal family.
When he took over the reign he promised to look after his community and attract investors to create job opportunities for communities.
“We are grateful for this community of KwaCeza, that they will finally have a shelter to organise their programmes without sitting under the trees or open fields. We applaud the municipality for this gesture to also honour our family with the naming of this community hall,” said Prince Ntuthukoyezwe Buthelezi.
