A prominent American sprint coach who is under investigation for sexual misconduct was warned to leave the World Athletics Championships venue or face arrest on Saturday.
Rana Reider attempted to enter the athletes’ warm-up section without having the correct accreditation.
Reider is coaching British athlete Adam Gemili at the event and was rejected when he applied for an official coaching pass.
Report suggested the coach attempted to get the accreditation through another country but he was rejected by World Athletics.
When Reider was seen in the restricted area he was asked to leave by the event staff, which he initially refused until police officers showed up.
The coach was again stopped by police officers outside the venue and was cautioned.
“Event security discovered an unaccredited person in the warm up area. He was asked to leave, and he refused,” a World Athletics statement to The Times said.
“Police were immediately notified and went to remove him from the venue. When he observed police officers approaching him, he left the venue.”
Police stopped him outside the venue and told that if he returned he would be arrested for trespassing.
Last November it was revealed that Reider was under investigation by the US Centre for SafeSport following sexual misconduct allegations.
British Athletics chiefs informed any athlete under his guidance to find another coach or risk being removed from the elite funding programme.
Reider’s lawyer in the past has labelled the accusations as unproven and unvetted.
