Podcaster defends Zimba’s ex after her Germany heartbreak

  • Denise Zimba says she was barred from her daughters’ Munich home during a birthday party and left gifts outside instead.
  • Podcaster Penuel Mlotshwa says Zimba broke the law and must accept her own role in losing custody of her daughters.

Actress Denise Zimba was not allowed inside the Munich home where her daughters, Leah and Mila, were celebrating a birthday during a recent visit to Germany.

Zimba said she travelled to Munich to see her girls, who live there with their father, her estranged husband Jakob Schlichtig. She said she could only see them outside the house and left their birthday gifts in the parking lot.

“Travelled all the way to Munich to see my girls. I have restricted access to them,” Zimba wrote on social media. “Today is my daughter’s birthday party, and I am not allowed in the house.”

Zimba and Schlichtig have been locked in a custody battle since 2024. Courts ruled earlier this year that the children should live in Germany, where they were found to be habitually resident, ending Zimba’s legal bid to keep them in South Africa.

Podcaster and commentator Penuel Mlotshwa, known as The Black Pen, responded to Zimba’s post on his Facebook page. He said he felt sympathy for her, but believed she also needed to accept responsibility for how things reached this point.

“He took legal action and correctly got the kids back. He was doing what’s in the best interest of the children,” Mlotshwa wrote.

He said the public reaction would have been different had a father done what he accused Zimba of doing, and called on both parents to put their daughters first.

“The person you marry is not the person you divorce,” he wrote.
