Pitso Mosimane has dismissed as fake news, claims on social media that he has been appointed as the technical director of Premier League club Bournemouth.
A post circulating on Twitter on Tuesday night sent South Africans into a frenzy as they thought Mosimane had found employment in the best league in the world.
However the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss confirmed to Scrolla.Africa that the rumours are untrue.
“I’m still around in the country. Fake news. How I wish I could land that gig, hey? Busy with my school programme,” Pitso told Scrolla.Africa.
Since parting ways with Al Ahly three months ago, Mosimane has been linked with several South African and international clubs.
The 2016 CAF Coach of the Season winner said he was approached by several clubs in Qatar.
It is rumoured he is angling for a gig in Qatar since it will host the Fifa World Cup in November.
He’s busy with his soccer schools programme. It has been endorsed by both the South African Football Association (Safa) and Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi.
Mosimane recently obtained a CAF Pro Licence which enables him to coach anywhere in the world. The former Supersport United mentor recently returned from Tanzania on his #ChangeTheGame programme where he did coaching clinics.
Before that he spent a week with Royal AM where he shared his wisdom ahead of the KZN club campaign in the rigorous CAF Confederation Cup campaign next month.
Fans felt a South African link-up with Benni McCarthy was on the cards as the former Porto striker continues in his role as Manchester United striker coach.
However it was not meant to be – but a move to England may not be completely off the table for Mosimane in the future.
