Shortly after little Bokamoso Shabe disappeared without a trace on Monday afternoon a man named Aubrey called the child’s grandmother.
He told her they had kidnapped Bokamoso and they would kill the child if they weren’t paid R50,000.
The little girl from Thabong in the Free State was coming home from school when she was kidnapped.
On Tuesday the grandmother received another call.
A woman who identified herself as Nthabeleng calling from the same number repeated the demand for R50,000.
Cops have launched a manhunt for both the suspects and the little girl.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said the girl was last seen on Monday at about 1:30pm at Mantshebo Primary school in Jerusalem Park.
“The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is urgently seeking community assistance in tracing an eight-year-old girl,” Makhele told Scrolla.Africa.
He said she was abducted while on her way home from school by an unknown woman and the grandmother first received a call from Aubrey at 3pm.
“On Tuesday at 8.45am a woman named Nthabeleng also demanded R50,000 in cash for the child’s safe return,” said Makhele.
On the day of her disappearance, the little girl was wearing a school uniform, a white shirt, a grey and white jersey, a grey skirt and black shoes. She is dark in complexion.
