To kick-start the New Year, Kasango and Zakes Bantwini have released the official music video for their celebrated 2021 single “Osama”.
Beginning with the dialogue between Osama (who is played by Zakes Bantwini) and his father (played by the legendary actor John Kani), the stunning visuals landed at number one on YouTube’s trending music charts on Friday.
At the beginning of the video, Kani gives Bantwini (who is dressed in all white) his final words of wisdom before Kani takes a spiritual journey on a motorbike to his “destiny”.
“Osama” caused a shock when it lost to DJ Hlo’s “Isibani” on Ukhozi FM’s Song of the Year top ten, landing at number eight with 16,484 votes.
With their new video, Kasango and Zakes Bantwini have managed to jumpstart the momentum they previously built with this monumental hit.
Even though Bantwini revealed that the words of the song have no true meaning – the presence of iconic actor Kani and the music video has given “Osama” a new meaning.
The video – which has cameo appearances from industry giants Sjava, DJ Sbu and Oskido – has reached close to 200,000 views on YouTube a day after it was released.
Meanwhile the 24-year-old female DJ Hlo endured fire from social media.
Some claim she was aided by her performance at former president Jacob Zuma’s festive picnic, which took place at KwaNxamalala Village in Nkandla on 27 December.
Others are blaming the well-known pastor Vusi Dube of EThekwini Community Church for leading the prayer which allegedly led to DJ Hlo getting 214,966 winning votes.
