Nosiphiwo Vena was just hanging out with her friends before she allegedly died at the hands of her boyfriend.

The 30-year-old was killed in Crossroads, Cape Town, on Tuesday.

The victim argued with the suspect earlier in the day but no one thought it would end up with Vena losing her life. What made it worse is that the suspect is a member of the local neighbourhood watch, someone who has to look out for his community.

During the course of the evening, it is alleged that  the suspect followed Vena to her bedroom and stabbed her three times in the neck. In the sitting room of the same house, friends were chilling and having drinks.

Her sister Portia said she received a call from Vena’s friends telling her what had happened.

“They asked me to come straight home because my sister had been stabbed. They didn’t tell me that she was dead,” Portia told Scrolla.Africa.

Nothing could prepare Portia for what she saw when she went into the bedroom.

“I have never seen so much blood in my life,” she said.

“My sister didn’t deserve to die like that.”

Portia was aware of the toxic relationship between her sister and the boyfriend. She said they fought all the time but she never thought the man, the father of Vena’s child, would resort to this.

“He was supposed to protect her,” Portia said.

Zintle Ncapayi, a street committee member is shocked and angry especially as the suspect is a member of the neighbourhood watch.

“What he did is the opposite of what he was supposed to do. He promised to protect the community but didn’t do it at home,” Ncapayi said.
