Johannesburg drivers are used to seeing some crazy things on the road.
But few were prepared for the sight on Thursday morning of an ostrich running alongside the early morning traffic on William Nicol Drive.
A video of the bird on the loose was posted on social media and went viral.
Though ostriches are notoriously stupid, this one was smart enough to stay in his lane on the centre strip and avoid becoming roadkill for Joburg’s motorists.
The ostrich is the fastest bird in the world so he can be grateful that Joburg’s speed cameras are all broken.
Meanwhile, the Randburg SPCA are looking for the errant animal which appears to have disappeared.
Perhaps no one can find him because he’s stuck his head in the sand.
