First it was a viral social media dance challenge, then it became a hit song. Now “Nkao Tempela” has found its way onto the charts, but this time with a music video to accompany it.

Released in November last year, “Nkao Tempela”, which is Ch’cco’s debut, is comfortably back at number six on YouTube’s trending music charts since its music video was released earlier this month.

“With well over 20 million streams, 150 million views on TikTok and now 4 x Platinum certified, Ch’cco releases the long-awaited visuals for his breakout debut single ‘Nkao Tempela’,” wrote Ch’cco’s recording label R1+0 Cartel, sharing the new music video on 2 June.

Meanwhile the recent song he has been featured on by Pabi Cooper titled “Banyana Ke Bafana”, alongside Focalistic, LuuDadeejay and Nobantu Vilakazi, has raked in over one million views, while the music video for “Nkao Tempela” has collected over 350,000 views on YouTube since its release.

The song is Ch’cco’s only commercially released single which features the producers Mellow & Sleazy. The Pretoria duo produce a different amapiano sound known as “sgija”, which puts emphasis on instrumentals – sometimes with zero vocals. On their end, they used the song’s success to boost their own careers as a duo by following up with a nine singles-long EP called Midnight in Sunnyside on 20 April.

Midnight in Sunnyside, which was produced in Sunnyside in the capital city, features hits like “Chipi Ke Chipi” featuring Justin99 and “Ba Bize” featuring Murumba Pitch, Daliwonga, Visca, Djy Biza.
