New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced that her country is now free of Covid-19.
Ardern said she “did a little dance” when she was told that the country’s only remaining case had recovered.
New Zealand’s strict Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted on Monday night, except for border controls.
The country is isolated and has a small population, so is better placed than many to fight the pandemic. But the government has also handled the crisis better than most – it has been efficient and communicated clearly.
