New York cops drive into crowd as sympathy protests echo across the world

The protests in America at racial discrimination and police brutality continued on Thursday.

Sympathy protests are taking place across the world – putting racism in the spotlight as the planet goes through sweeping change triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In New York, videos on Twitter (clip above) circulated showing two police cars moving into a crowd of protestors. Most of the protests in America have been peaceful. But there are increasing signs that President Donald Trump and his supporters are trying to stir up violence.

It all started with the killing by police of George Floyd, an unarmed black man. America has since had continent-wide protests – and at least 10,000 arrests.
