New normal hits the ANC

The ANC is working with “a skeleton staff” at its Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The ANC head office in the Johannesburg CBD is at the heart of one of the country’s major Covid-19 hotspots. Over 63,000 in the province have been confirmed to have Covid-19; 18,500 have recovered and 353 people in Gauteng have died. Gauteng has had one of the highest rates of increase in the world the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, the ANC’s treasurer Paul Mashatile has also put himself into self isolation.

Mashatile who recently buried his mother, has also now lost his wife to a long illness.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe said the Mashatile family has asked for privacy.

“Losing a parent is not easy. Losing a partner is even more difficult. It’s a double blow now. The treasurer is in self isolation now after a member of his staff tested positive.”
