Over the last two months, Netflix has released its first African-produced reality TV show and action film – and now it has announced the release of its first African podcast, Never Late, African Time.
On 18 March Netflix dropped its first reality television show, titled Young, Famous and African.
Then the streaming giant announced its first African action thriller titled Silverton Siege which will premiere this Wednesday on Freedom Day.
Never Late; African Time will be hosted by Andy Maqondwana, who described the show as being for Africans, who “are never late, but always on time, Africa Time”.
Maqondwana is a radio presenter who hails from Kaya FM, while her co-host Zweli Mbhele is a radio presenter on 947 Radio.
The podcast’s first four guests have given listeners a taste of what it has to offer. Kenyan actress Catherine Karanja, popularly known as Kate Actress, will be followed by Nigerian actress Nancy Isime, Mzansi actress Candace Modiselle and the legendary actor Israel Matseke-Zulu.
The podcast will be available to stream on Netflix, YouTube, Spotify and Apple, with new episodes released every Wednesday on all four platforms.
The first five episodes will be released on Wednesday 4 May.
